Indiana Association for School Principals

The Indiana Association for School Principals (IASP) leads in the advocacy and support of all principals in their commitment to every student. Purdue has been a long time sponsor of this organization and it's events. Each year IASP holds several academically based competitions which allow the students of all levels to compete against teams of their peers from around the state. Students are recognized and awarded for achievement earned, as well as given the opportunity to advance to higher levels of competition.

The objectives of the academic competitions are:

Showcase Indiana's able scholars
Involve their families in the thrill of academic excellence, and
Provide a rewarding experience for the participant's intellectual performance

Alumni Representatives and their role at the Academic Competitions

Your role in representing Purdue at these events will vary depending on what your site coordinator has planned. We ask that you be flexible and help to accommodate what the site coordinator asks of you. For all PART members who would like to attend an academic bowl, please contact both the site host and Matt Chupp.

Prior to the event you will be sent a small package of information that will include brochures and information to pass out to students and families. It is your responsibility to check this website for any changes to the schedule or location the day before or the day of your event. Typically we ask that you arrive at least a half an hour early to set up the small table where you will hand out the information provided to you and make contact with the event coordinator.

Sometimes you will be asked to give a brief welcome to the participants. This should be kept fairly brief and explain how fortunate we are to have an organization so committed to the excellence of their students and to have events such as these in the state of Indiana. Purdue is, and will continue to be a proud sponsor of the Academic Competitions. Also, you may be asked to help hand out awards at the end of the competition. The format of the awards ceremony may vary with each site, so please feel free to ask the coordinator any questions you may have until you feel comfortable with your role.
