Portrait of Julia Fibbe

I graduated in 2019 with a major in agronomy and minor in food and agribusiness management. I’ve been working as a developmental agronomist for Syngenta in Columbus, Indiana since then.

Growing up in Massachusetts wanting to pursue a career in agriculture, I knew that I would have to go out of state to get a good education in row crop production. After touring eight top agriculture schools, I fell in love with Purdue. I had an incredible tour of the College of Agriculture along with the larger campus. I met a few professors on my short visit to campus and felt like I was part of the Purdue family without even attending the school. I remember not wanting to leave campus after my visit and being excited about the possibility of joining the agronomy team.

Purdue Agriculture puts a lot of time and energy into their students and cares about their future careers from the moment they step foot on campus. The college does an incredible job creating a career fair that is inviting for both students and industry companies. They equip students with every resource needed to be successful at these fairs: from practicing elevator speeches to refining cover letters and resumes.

Attending Purdue University has set me up for a successful career in agriculture. As a developmental agronomist for Syngenta, I rely heavily on the knowledge and material I learned in my classes, even referring to material I saved. I also passed my Certified Crop Advisor exams following school to gain my certification; this would not have been possible without my Purdue University education.

After talking with other young professionals in the industry, I am even more certain that Purdue University is one of the best universities to attend to get a well-rounded education that will help you pursue your dream career.
