Amanda Smith Indianapolis
Forestry and Wildlife

On campus, I’m involved in: Botany Club, Purdue Social Ballroom Club, Purdue Rifle and Pistol Club, Rifle Competition Team, Tippecanoe County Community Emergency Response Team
In my spare time, I: Walk in the parks around the area; my favorite is Horticulture Park just west of campus.
Dream job: To work with endangered species, preferably in the mountains somewhere
Favorite local restaurant: Arni’s. They are now found in other towns, but it all started here in the Lafayette area!
Favorite pig-out food: Mint chocolate chip ice cream
Most embarrassing moment: I slipped and fell my freshman year on campus and messed up my ankle, but I got a free ride in the Purdue ambulance to the hospital. They are really nice guys.
Most memorable Purdue experience: My first home football game sitting in the student section. It was amazing!
When I feel like spoiling myself, I: Like to go out to eat
Favorite book: Pride and Prejudice
Favorite movie: Last of the Mohicans and Enemy at the Gates
Acquaintances would be surprised to know: that I have always wanted to learn to fly helicopters and do deep sea scuba diving
Favorite cartoon character: Wolverine. I’ve always just liked him.
Funniest Purdue experience: The Rifle Team went to Michigan for match. On the way home, we wanted to stop at the new Cabelas. However, no one actually knew where it was. By the end of the day we found it, but we also managed to get ourselves lost in Chicago.
I’m inspired by: My family; they are all amazing people who have succeeded and have done what they wanted to do with their lives. My parents love their jobs and have survived raising four kids, which is impressive on its own. My sister graduated from Purdue and since then has been brave enough to move to Florida on her own for her career. Also, my older brother is a captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He is my hero for all that he has accomplished and gone through.
What’s playing on my IPod: Mainly country but a little bit of everything.
