Maximizing Scholarship Consideration

To be considered for our full range of freshman scholarships, complete these important steps by the respective deadline:

  1. Complete the admission application by November 1 (including submission of all required material). All students who complete their admission application by November 1 will be automatically considered for university-wide merit scholarships.
  2. Students applying to the colleges of Agriculture, Health and Human Sciences or the Krannert School of Management or Polytechnic Institute should submit Purdue's Supplemental Scholarship Application by January 1. These colleges have a very small set of scholarships with criteria that are so specific, the Supplemental Application is necessary to collect additional information. (The supplemental scholarship application is available to Purdue applicants between November 1 and January 1.)
  3. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by January 1 to be considered for need-based scholarships awarded by specific academic departments. (The FAFSA is available beginning October 1.)
  4. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 to be considered for federal, state and university-wide scholarships and grants that are awarded based on financial need. (See more information about other Need-based scholarships and the FAFSA below.)

  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by January 1 to be considered for need-based scholarships awarded by specific academic departments.
  • For other need-based scholarships and other financial aid, you should file a FAFSA no later than March 1.
